INTRODUCTION:
The Sudanese Development Initiative (SUDIA) is a pioneering non-profit, non-governmental organization working with a broad cross-section of stakeholders for greater stability, development, and good governance in Sudan by reducing violence, empowering youth, and advancing the role of the media and civil society.
POSITION ROLE:
SUDIA is looking for a qualified IT Coordinator that will install and maintain computer systems and networks aiming for the highest efficiency and functionality for all SUDIA IT activities. The IT Coordinator will also train SUDIA users on how to make appropriate and safe usage of SUDIA’s IT infrastructure. A successful IT Coordinator must have thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks, and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities, and attention to detail. The goal is to implement and maintain an updated and efficient computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology in SUDIA operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Setting up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers, etc.)
•Check computer hardware (HDD, mouses, keyboards etc.) to ensure functionality
•Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications
•Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance
•Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
•Provide orientation and guidance to users on operating new software and computer equipment
•Schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
•Perform time-efficient troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems
•Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
•Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders
•Institute and enforce protocols for the use of IT across departments and projects
•Provide on-site technical support or training for systems and networks
•Monitor system and network performance
•Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and data restoration
•Performance of maintenance activities (e.g. backups, preventative maintenance, etc…)
REQUIREMENTS:
•Proven experience as IT Technician or other relevant position
•Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
•Excellent communication skills
•Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
•In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
•Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 working environment and associated ecosystem
•Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or related field
•Additional relevant certification is an advantage (e.g. Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
